A Swiss Family of Prussian Origin
Christian-Gottlieb HENTSCH was born on 13th June, 1696,
in Tschechel in the Niederlausitz province of Brandenburg, Prussia.
He was the son of Johan Gottfried von Hentsch and Sophia von Kaulfus.
His third son, Benjamin-Gottlob HENTSCH was born around 1730
in Saasmack in Courland, then Poland, later Russia, and now Western Latvia.
He was serving as the Livonian Baron Ernst Burkhard von Mengden's tutor when he arrived in Geneva in 1758.
The following year he married Marie-Charlotte de la Porte.
Their son, Henri HENTSCH was born on 17th February, 1761,
and is recognized as the founding member of the Swiss HENTSCH family in Geneva.
